Who Am I?

When I was a child, I had no idea who I was. At that time I was free; no tensions, no worries. I was fully content.  I ate played and slept without a care. Whatever I needed, I asked my parents and they provided. I didn’t know how they provided, I just asked.

As I grew up and went to school I became responsible to wake up at a certain time, whether I liked it or not. I was responsible to finish my homework and class assignments. I grew upset, frustrated; but the wheel of time was moving forward.

Next I went to college. I became a young man, and in college I discovered freedom of choices, liberty. It was up to me to do my assignments, or not. With this total freedom I entered into a new phase of life.

I started having quiet thoughts and looking for a purpose and meaning in my life. I seriously and sincerely questioned myself:

Who am I?

Who am I in Christ?

Who am I meaning?

who am I really?

What is my origin; where do I come from?

Why I am in this world; what is the purpose of my life?

Where I am going?

What is my end?

I discovered that I was like a wandering cloud which goes here and there with the wind. It appears to have no purpose, no direction, and no destination. I felt like a wind in the desert. I was like a bird that has no nest. I was like the dry leaf fallen from a tree which goes here and there with the wind; it makes a lot of noise and then is put into a fire. Sometimes I felt as if I was a wave on the sea which goes up and down, makes a great noise then dies.

Is this life?  This was the way I was looking at it. This was my definition of life.

What is your definition of life; do you think like this?

There are many young people today who look at life in this manner. Like them, I was searching for meaning and purpose in my life.

Then I came to know, by the reading of God’s Holy Word, that God made me in His own image. He loves me, cares for me and sent His only begotten Son to this world to die for me, so that by believing in HIM, I could be saved. I knew that I was a sinner and needed salvation. I needed a Savior.

So I confessed my sins. I said to God wholeheartedly, “I am a sinner, please forgive my sins.”  He forgave my sins and I was set free. I was at peace. It was all by faith and through HIS grace. Then I knew who I was, where I was going, and what my destination would be.

Who am I?

I am a human being created in the image of God, He forgave my sins and now I am His child.

Where am I going?

I know that now I will go to heaven when the course of my life ends on this earth.

What is my destination?

My destination is heavenward. I do live in this world but this is just my temporary abode. Here I am a traveler and a stranger; this is not my home. My home is in heaven. All the things which I have, I can use them, enjoy them and can thank God for them. They are good as long as I live and use them, after this they are meaningless.

What is the purpose of my life?

I have found the purpose for my life; I must thank God and praise Him for all His blessings. I must serve him and help people who are suffering.

Are you looking for purpose?

Do you ask yourself—who am I?

I have found the answer and you can also find the answer by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, confessing your sins, asking His forgiveness, giving up your sins and following His commandments.

It is all free. Find your purpose in Jesus Christ!
