His Sheep

David has written Psalm 100, a psalm of thanksgiving. In it he talks about God, the relationship of God’s people toward their King, Creator, Master and Lord. He talks about thanksgiving, praise, adoration, worship; and about serving God with a jubilant heart.

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture

Psalm 100:3

Know ye that the LORD he is God:

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, we belong to him, and we are his people and sheep of his pasture.” David very openly says, “You people of Israel. You are his sheep. You are God’s sheep.” He can also say, “I am His sheep.”

What type of relationship is David describing for the people of God?

He says, “Oh you people of God, you are his sheep.”

Why does David say that; how can he say these words?

What is the meaning behind these words?

Where did he get this idea?

God the Holy Spirit brought this idea to David’s mind, that we are His sheep, and he clearly wrote it. David was a shepherd boy, he found out how to relate to his sheep and how the sheep responded. He was fully aware of a sheep’s behavior and its psyche. God used David’s experience to explain the message.

Know that the Lord is God.

He takes us into the future. David wrote the book of Psalms in 1000 BC. He was looking into the future. The Messiah will come, He is Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, Father of Eternity, and his name is Wonderful, Counselor.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace

 Isaiah 9:6

He is Jesus. He is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord is God; Jesus is God. Jesus is not a superior human being. He is not inferior to God. He is not an angel. He is not a man, the Lord is God—the Lord Jesus Christ is God.

It is he who made us.

God is our Creator. God and Jesus are not two gods but one God. God the Father manifested himself through God the Son. The writer of Hebrews says, “Jesus is the Creator.”

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds

Hebrews 1:2

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am

 John 8:58

We belong to Him. We are His creation. He is our creator, sustainer, protector, provider, caretaker, and supplier. He owns us. We belong to Him.

We are his people.

He is our ruler, our King. We are His subject. We are the citizens of His heavenly country. He rules in our hearts and we follow Him, obey Him.

And sheep of his pasture.

We are His sheep. We are the sheep of His pasture. We are His sheep…

1).

He feeds us well

He cares for us;

He protects us from the wild beasts,

He protects us from our adversary, the evil one.

We are his sheep.

2).

He is awake day and night;

He does not sleep nor slumber.

He watches over us,

His banner over me is love

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love

Song 2:4

Because we are his sheep

Because I am his sheep

3).

He gives me cold water to drink,

He satisfies my thirst.

He takes me to the springs of cold water,

He asks me to drink as much as I need and I can.

4).

Because I am his sheep

Even when I go along dangerous paths,

Even when my enemies surround me;

Even when I face sickness, disease, poverty, financial crises, health issues, opposition, and enmity,

Even when I go through the valley of death.

5).

He is always with me,

Around me and behind me,

Beside me and above me;

Because I am His sheep.

6).

I will bless Him,

I will praise Him, I will thank Him,

I will focus on His faithfulness, goodness and righteousness;

Because I am His sheep.

7).

Goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life;

I will live in the house of the Lord forevermore,

Because I am His sheep.

Are you His sheep?

Think about it.

8).

He guides me; He helps me not to grumble.

He encourages me, He energizes me,

He strengthens, and He supplies all my needs.

He makes me brave and bold,

He comforts me, and He consoles me.

Because I am His sheep.

Be a good sheep.

Blessings.
